John H. Phillips
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Phillips is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for BPS. John is CEO of Klister Credit Corp., a private equity firm focusing on early stage companies. John’s current board responsibilities include those for: Redknee Solutions, Virtual Marine Technology, NeoEdge Networks and White Pine Pictures. He is an advisor to Jaded Pixel Technologies Inc. (www.shopify.com).
John practiced business law at Blake, Cassels and Graydon for 20 years, becoming partner in 1982. In 1994, John joined Clearnet Communications Inc., as Executive Vice President, Carrier Relations & General Counsel. John held similar roles at TELUS Mobility after TELUS’s acquisition of Clearnet in 2000.
John has served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association and currently serves as Past Chair of the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation.
Stephen Adams
Director
Mr. Adams joined the BPS Board in February 2005. He has over 19 years of experience in financial services, business development, and IT system delivery in multiple industries, including high-tech, financial, utilities, retail and government sectors. In March 1999, Mr. Adams became Chief Technology Officer for Brascan Business Services, expanding his role in June 2001 to become President of the Brascan Technology Fund.
Scott Clark
Director
Mr. Clark has been a member of the BPS Board since February 2005. With over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, the last nine of which have been in the private equity field, Mr. Clark joined Covington Capital Corporation as an investment manager. Prior to joining Covington, Mr. Clark was a Vice-President at Harrowston Inc., where he assisted in the formulation of a venture capital investment strategy to expand Harrowston beyond traditional buyouts. He was also a Vice-President at Working Ventures Canadian Fund Inc. and he held various positions at the Business Development Bank of Canada.
Richard M. Tuttle
Director
Mr. Tuttle has been a member of the BPS Board since January 2004. He served as President of BPS from January 2004 until September 2006. Mr. Tuttle is an experienced business executive with more than 30 years of sales, marketing, operations, and management experience in early-stage technology companies. Currently, Mr. Tuttle is the Chairman and CEO of Iron Lion Management, Inc., a company that specializes in private equity investment and management services for early-stage technology companies. He has served as Chief Executive Officer for: Datapulse Corporation (divested to Mitel Corporation in 1983); Mindflight Technology (taken public on the VSE in 1988); Caribou Systems Corporation (acquired by a CDNX listed company in 1998); and Northstar Mall.ca (Canada’s first internet mall divested to a TSE listed company in 2000). Subsequently, Mr. Tuttle was with the Private Client Group of KBSH Capital Management, a Tier 1 national investment management firm headquartered in Toronto with $7 billion in assets under management. Since 1982, Mr. Tuttle has served as Chairman and CEO of Temagami Capital Corporation, a private family holding company.
